Suggestion: Track 'blacklist' feature
« on: February 19, 2023, 12:56:01 pm »

Idea:

1. Set a track as 'blacklisted'.
2. Enable a global 'Respect blacklist' feature.
3. Never see or hear blacklisted tracks again (unless 'Respect blacklist' is disabled).

Purpose: To maintain integrity of albums/collections, but mask-out any tracks in those albums/collections one personally can't stand and never wants to hear again. ::) Not meant to compete with Playlist or Smartlist functions.

This is already available. Tag field 'Playable', if track is not to be played set to 0 by opening field in tag window and unselecting checkbox 'Value'.

The tag change does not seem to be saved (embedded) in the file.

Another instance of MC doesn't 'pick up' the 'Playable' = 0. I even tried 'Save tags from library...' for the track in question.

Any idea how to make the 'Playable' field become embedded in the file, so that it can be read during Import in another instance of MC?

Tools>Options>Library & Folders>Manage library fields
Select Playable field and check 'Save in file tags (when possible)'

You're welcome, Derek,
I use this feature quite a bit for 'Special Edition' albums that come with a lot of demo/alternative version tracks. The additional tracks can be interesting but mostly I just want to listen to the original album.

Great info, thanks. I too have some of the remastered and/or special editions with stuff I don't need. This is a perfect solution.
