Pls help setting up a multimedia keyboard with MC

I cannot make my multimedia keys work when MC is not in focus. It's a basic setup with PlayPrevious, PlayNext and Play/Pause on a Razor keyboard and Debian 11 with Cinnamon.

Other applications provide support for configuring global key shortcuts internally, and I can control VLC even if it's minimized. VLC has an option for global Keyboard Bindings.

It's is a critical keyboard functionality for me. I would really be eternally grateful for any workarounds in MC! (I'm still learning Linux and I simply cant find any solutions after investing hours in this).
