I'm licensed thru JRiver 30, but my JRiver install is at the last version of 28 (28.0.106 64-bit, with auto-updates disabled) on a Win7Pro (SP1) box.

Went to download JRiver 30, but I see that at some point, Win8 became the minimum requirement for 64-bit JRiver. Are there any versions of 64-bit JRiver 29.x which will fly with Win7 64-bit? Thanks.

Curiosity strikes. Windows 7 is approaching a stage where it's not particularly tenable to run for security reasons (it's not terrible if you're not using it for browsing / web stuff). Windows 10 is annoyingly full of telemetry but OTHERWISE is quite performant even on dated hardware with the right configuration. Windows 10 has reached a state of stability where it's a viable upgrade.
Any reason you're avoiding 10? 8 is a complete mess and not even worth your time so you were smart to ignore it. 10 is a *good* operating system, like once setup right, it's very unobtrusive and performant.

I was gonna say "Please don't just advise me to go to 10" in my OP, but I thought it would sound rude.  I'm well aware of the Microsoft path and its history and the security risks. If I had the time and money and mental bandwidth and the compatibility with necessary existing apps and hardware, I'd have done it on this box by now.

MC29 64 bit seems to run fine on W7.  There may be some features that do not work correctly, but I have not seen any reported. The place to look for problems is probably sophisticated video options as video support changes in Windows.  But even those do not seem to be a problem with MC29.  It is too early to tell about MC30.

You can have 28 and 29 both installed on your system. If you have a 29 license, give it a try.

Thanks for the encouragement. I installed 29.0.87, and it sat alongside my v 28.x without obliterating anything. Existing libraries all present and accounted for under v29. Ripped and libraried the new Blondie box, and all is well. (Disclaimer: I only use JRiver for video sparingly, if ever. So if there is a ticking video bomb waiting for me, I haven't seen it yet.)
