This may be me but...
« on: March 06, 2003, 09:14:31 am »

I have just installed the kX Drivers and am able to use ASIO on my SB Live for the first time...not sure yet if this serves me any major advantage but hoping I will be able to use Pro Tools now with a better latency than the 2 seconds I had using Creatives lame drivers...

Anyways...

Does the Spectrum Analyzer not qork when using ASIO??  My settings are ASIO with Channel offset 0, JRSS 4 Speaker, 48,000 Sample Rate Source Bitdepth...

Is it just me...  Should I go to bed earlier?? ;D

Cheers all

I know I shouldn't reply to my own posts but I have just changed the sample rate back to 44,100 and now the spectrum analyzer works again.  Is this a bug??

Yeah the kX drivers seem pretty robust.  All I need now is some decent sound fonts and for digidesign to release Pro Tools Free for Win XP... ;D

The drivers are very good, the only problem with this is recording something ( Line-in ) in my computer. How about a 57Mb of soundfont free? go to http://www.personalcopy.com/sfarkfonts1.htm
and download "PersonalCopy v5r2" it's now the sounfont i use and i must say that is very good. Give a try

Yo - what're these drivers your talking about??

Do they work on any SB Card?
I have the SB Live 5.1 card.

What's the advantage of them over the normal drivers in terms of just listening to music or playing games on the PC, not for making music?

The only real advantage for if you are not making music is that they have ASIO support.  I have found this to be a bit problematic though.  More often than not I get a pop at the beginning of my tracks using ASIO...

Apart from that...

These Drivers are only for music, you have more access to effects, more control on your inputs outputs, for games if you are using a SB 5.1 EAX don't work, In KX project there are not a single developer that can make EAX for those drivers ( maybe some day ), but take a look on the forum http://www.driverheaven.net/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=67 for more questions that you have about these drivers.
