Yadb field search
« on: March 05, 2003, 04:05:29 am »

Is there a way to coax MC9 to find tag information for a CD from the YADB?  I'm getting a lot of CD not found on what I'd consider common CDs.  For example, Circle in the Round, Davis & Coltrane-The Complete Columbia Recordings,  The Best of Weather Report, and Snoop Dog Smokin Hitz did not get hits in the db while some uncommon CDs like 18th St. Lounge Music Presents-Easy Tempo did.  I was actually loking for an option to enter the artist name or album name to re-querry the db.  Does this exist?  BTW, the program is great.

I hate to respond to my own post but I guess its been long enough.  With reargd to my earlier post, it seems both WMP and Quintessetial (CDDB) properly identified the disks in question.  Is the YADB just young or is there a problem with the sofware?  Is there a way to import the lists generated by the other players into MC?

Yes YADB is young and yes if the player that found the data stored the information in the windows cdplayer.ini file then MC should pick that up ;D

Hope that helps!!

WMD does not export cd infos

I never heard of the other one.
But it is easy to know : search for "cdplayer.ini' and look if you see inside cds infos for cds you loged in the player.
If not RealOne and MusicMatch do put cds infos in the 'cdplayer.ini' file.
And MC MUST go to this folder to get infos.
But there is still a problem.
If you loged the cd in MC before trying with another player, you have to delete the 'unknow - or unasigned- ' entrys you found in the left tree under cd-dvd

Maybe a bit of both

a build or so ago a fix in MC9 was made, there could be more.

I have about 90 CD's not found thru YADB (so far) some I can understand some should have been in the DB.

I mean all this part of the program is not working well.
Get infos - never ending buffering- to get infos from the last cd when you put a new one .
And so on, the list is long.
I do not use it anymore , to rebot Windows 2000 takes ages..

Anyway, I guess I can rip the unrecognized CDs into the library (ape) and try to look for updates later as I see there is an "empty properties" smartlist.  I've been on ripping frenzy for the past few days and want to keep the generated library tidey along the way.  I'll upload info to YADB if I get overly ambitious.
