Streaming websites not using the JRiver audio engine
« on: December 08, 2022, 03:12:55 am »

When streaming web video or internet radio from within JRiver MC30 there is no audio playback. The only workaround for me was to install the WDM driver and choose JRiver as audio output in Windows. This then channels the audio back into MC30, however at a loss of audio quality.
I suspect it has to do with using Edge as the web browser engine. The alternatives (Chromium or IE) don't work properly on many websites.

None of the web engines can use the MC audio engine directly, all of them have to go through WDM if you want to channel the audio through Media Center.

Ok, but then what is the purpose of providing streaming websites from within MC. Wouldn't it be easier to use my standard browser and select the wdm driver for output?

Its just an option. You can use it, or you can use your own browser.
