auto-import folders disappeared mc 29.0.87

would anyone have any insight on auto-import folders disappearing? i had hundreds of folders (techno labels, a-z), each with several library fields filled in for auto-import (label name, country, keyword etc). i just updated some of these labels and noticed the new additions were not appearing in the library. i checked the watched folder under configure auto-import and discovered that folders d-z were gone, approx 870 folders. the music is in the main library, everything is still tagged (i have the tags written into the file) but im faced with the prospect of having to re-add all of these. are these recoverable in any way? or at the least, is there anything i should check to make sure that it doesnt happen again?
