Tagged data disappearing
« on: February 04, 2023, 10:56:42 am »

I have a special field for ratings that I've created (to allow for half-stars, etc) and I've tagged hundreds of albums. But I noticed recently that some of them have simply disappeared and reverted to the default "-1". I haven't located any pattern to this, but I'm wondering if there's something I should do when I add new data to this field to make sure it is permanent. Thanks.

It's difficult to offer any suggestions when we know nothing about your 'special' field, nor how you are tagging.

If you are tagging on a client instance, library syncing (and authentication) must be turned on otherwise any changes will be lost.

Thanks. It’s a String, non-relational, standard field. Library syncing and authentication are turned on at client. I noticed that the box “Save in file tags” was not checked. So I checked that. But this doesn’t explain how 95% of the time the data I put in this field is saved and then sometimes not.

Make sure something is not manipulating that field, or it's content, because the normal default for the "string" field type is "empty", as in no content, not "-1"

Also I'me curious as to why it's set to "string" and not "decimal"
