The audio device open is logged heavily

Thanks, Bob. Here's the log.

It's just failing to open the device. I added more verbose logging to the next build and a retry if it fails.
Your device looks a bit odd.
It returns some weird sample rates
--- Code: ---0055237: 123145448345600: Playback: CCoreAudioPlugin::StartCoreAudio: Physical format 10: Format=PCM, Samplerate=0, Bits=24, Flags= +SignedInteger +AlignedHigh, Padding=8
0055237: 123145448345600: Playback: CCoreAudioPlugin::StartCoreAudio: Physical format 11: Format=PCM, Samplerate=200000, Bits=24, Flags= +SignedInteger +AlignedHigh +NonMixable, Padding=8
--- End code ---
Along with normal sample rates.
How is it connected?
Do you have it selected as the audio device for the zone or are you using "Core Audio" as the device?
It does appear that it supports integer mode. You'd need to turn on both integer mode and exclusive access to try that.

The Lynx E22 is a PCI Express card. I have it connected via Thunderbolt to an external Thunderbolt enclosure. This is the same setup that I've used for over seven years. I've never had an issue until now.
I have the Lynx E22 selected as the audio device. It's listed as "Lynx E22 [Core Audio]". There is a separate device that is listed as "Default [Core Audio]".
I used to have integer mode turned on. It always worked fine, but somewhere in JRiver 29, integer mode stopped working. It would produce garbled sound, so I just turned it off. I actually contacted Lynx about this problem, and this was their response:
Integer mode is not something that we regularly test with, as there is very little reason to use it. 32-bit float has the same 24-bits of precision and it is possible to convert between 32-bit float and 24-bit integer without any loss, in other words the results are mathematically identical.
Most likely when upgrading to Big Sur or Monterey is when you would have noticed that Integer mode stopped working.
Thank you,
Lynx Technical Support
So, I just turned off integer mode, and I've used it that way ever since.
AGAWA:
Support Kernel Streaming Audio Output in General ->Advanced
This setting allowed me to use Integer Mode in MC30 under Monterey. (Apogee Duet)

Thanks! I'll try this when I'm home tonight. Is kernel streaming available on macOS, or is it Windows only?
