license bug after Latest update?

I updated today (windows ver of MC30) firstly on my desktop (no music imported) as I have had to do this to allow updating my portable version by copying the C:| files across (the portable update only seems to update the local C: version and not the external drive version).  now I have the message "Media centre was installed for a different operating system".   What has happened?  I did the update from within the program itself and not a download from the website.
