Adding thumbnail pictue to replace icon on Home Movies

Can this function in the Windows version be added to Linux version which copies a jpg file then tags it as cover art. Probably involved but it does not seem platform specific constraints. Can the same menu/function be added in Linux? A few menu items missing compared to Windows version.
