Media Server (minimized) shuts down if MC isn't open
jkauff:
I load Media Server when Win 11 boots up, and it works fine with any of the DLNA renders on my iPhone--for awhile. Then it shuts down, and no longer appears in the Task Tray. I have to run MC 30 to get it loaded again, and I have no problems as long as MC is running.
I'm guessing that starting Media Server with Win 11 by itself is the problem, but if this is a bug it would be nice to see it fixed.
JimH:
Probably not a bug. Make sure your firewall allows port 1900 (for SSDP) and port 52199.
jkauff:
No firewall issues. Again, it works fine until it doesn’t. The Media Server closes itself.
Not a big deal, since I can just load MC at startup, but it’s puzzling.
JimH:
Consider antivirus. Are you using anything other than Windows Defender? Did you configure Windows Defender?
jkauff:
Nothing but Defender. Do I need to do any configuration beyond opening ports 1900 and 52199?
