view and delete APEv2 tags
comox:
I think remove tags should remove all tags including APEv2 tags.
Tags in File in the Tagging Window should also display APEv2 tags.

I just wasted a day trying to figure out the best method to get rid of APEv2 tags.
What I discovered is:
1) The only way to identify files with APEv2 tags is with MP3Tag.
2) The only way to see the content of the APEv2 tags is with a JRiver competitor.
3) The only way to delete APEv2 tags is with MP3Tag, then using MC, Update Tags from Library and Quick Find cover art.
It would be very helpful if MC would delete APEv2 tags with the Remove Tags feature. I don't need anything more than this for APEv2 support in MC.
If anyone has found any better methods for cleaning APEv2 tags I would be grateful for tips.
Matt:
What types of files have the tags?
APE file tagging should work really well. JRiver always builds with the latest APE SDK.
If you're working on MP3 files, I don't think we support APE tags in those today. They have their own accepted tagging format.
comox:
They are in MP3 files.
I got started on this adventure because I have recently been using a light weight media player to listen to music while I am tagging with MC.
My files are all perfectly tagged with MC and yet this other player was displaying the wrong artwork and tags.
It took me a long time to figure out that the player was using APEv2 tags that are not displayed or updated by MC.
I went looking for a way to delete APEv2 tags so that files tagged with MC play properly in other players.
It would be appreciated if MC's Remove Tags was enhanced to delete all tags.
Matt:
Want to send an MP3 with APE tags to matt at jriver? I'll see if we could expand removing tags. Thanks.
