Multiple artists not taken into account
« on: May 01, 2023, 02:23:40 am »

Hello,

I started a thread in the MC28 forum but didn't receive a reply, so I decided to post it here. Sorry for the double.

I am experiencing a problem: when I click on the little arrow to "dive" into multiple artists separated by semicolons, it only goes to the first one. It seems like a bug, in my point of view.

Are you experiencing the same issue? Do I have to change an option to make it work correctly?

Please note that I use MC28 (and, if it's confirmed, don't want to upgrade just to solve a bug!).

Thank you,

creal.

Bump!

Is it the wrong place to post? Is there a bug report form instead?

It should be nice to get support.

Thanks.

That's how it works.

Okay, so:
1) It's contradictory to another user that says the opposite in this thread: https://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php/topic,135769.0.html
2) It's nonsense to prioritize the first artist instead of the other ones, because a collaboration generally implies all artists at the same "degree of importance".

Who is right? Is this really an intended behaviour or an absurdity?

How can I make a FR for changing this (in my opinion) inconsistent behaviour?

Thanks for your help.

I think it's neither.  Just an unimplemented feature.

In MC 30 & 31 Clicking on the Artist link button for a track with a semi-colon delimeted list of artists does show all of the Tracks in the library for all of the Artists in that List

Since no work will be done on/to MC28 your only option is to Upgrade to MC31 if you want clicking on the link button to display all tracks by all of the artists performing on a track are formatted using a semi-colon delimited list

Okay, thanks for the info.

I will probably end up upgrading, as I already did once to avoid a bug linked to lyrics. It's not ideal but now I am aware of that implemented feature in both MC28 and MC31.

You could add a view using your artist listing that should work.  Just Name it something different than those listed.

If unfamiliar, right click on Audio and select "Add Library View".
