Upgrade Problems
Awesome Donkey:
Linux distros are less forgiving when it comes to backwards compatibility when it comes to using older apps on newer versions of a distro. Or forwards compatibility in this case, trying to use a newer app on an older version of a distro.
It's probably worth looking into upgrading Linux Mint 19 to 21 anyways since support for Linux Mint 19 ended last month and you won't receive support (e.g. security patches) anymore.
It's worth mentioning that JRiver only officially supports Debian with Media Center, but it unofficially works on other distros as long as the dependencies are met (however users are usually on their own if they encounter issues as it's not officially supported on anything else but Debian). MC30 is built on Debian Buster (maybe MC31 too unless they rebase to Debian Bullseye or the upcoming Debian Bookworm) which is newer than the Ubuntu 18.04 LTS that Linux Mint 19 is based off of, hence why it's too old to install MC30 due to the unmet dependency.

Thanks for that. I didn't realize that support ended for Mint 19. I'm dreading the prospect of updating linux. The JRiver NUC I can just wipe and reinstall, but the file server I set up is going to be a big problem. Fingers crossed that there's a migration tool available.
Awesome Donkey:
Yes, support for Linux Mint 19 ended in April 2023, so last month.
Would not recommend using it and would recommend looking into upgrading to Linux Mint 21.
BryanC:
installJRMC (see forum sticky) with the "--compat" and "--install local" switches will strip the minimum version requirements so that you can install MC on older distros.
bob:
MC26 was the last version based on Debian Jessie.
MC27-MC30 are based on Debian Buster
MC31- will be based on Debian Bullseye
The last build of MC30 will take a MC31 license.
