Specify “video mode” on command line?
htnut:
Hendrik,
Thanks for trying to explain this to me. I thought it was wise to set the entire chain to 0-255 (PC, Renderer, and display) to ensure the conversion is only being done ONCE.
After all, test/calibration discs (like the Digital Video Essentials Blu Ray) have a Pluge pattern that shows a BTB bar. I thought, in order to ensure that something wasn't doing an extra conversion.
Hendrik:
That setup is fine. It's how PCs should ideally be connected to screens/projectors, assuming those can accept full-range input.
In such a setup, you would not see BTB, because the video renderer takes the limited range video signal and expands it to full range (the one conversion in the chain). Calibration discs only contain BTB signals as a reference to detect mistakes in the chain - you are not supposed to see them in the final setup.
