Windows Audio
« on: June 22, 2023, 08:51:07 am »

Hello, I would like to configure JRiver (version 30 at the moment) under Windows 11 so that it sends the audio stream directly to my home cinema amplifier via the HDMI socket without modifying it like the VLC Player (with the "Audio HDMI/SPDIF passthrough" option activated) so that it is my amplifier that takes care of the decoding.
At present, when I use VLC with this setting to play my videos, my amp displays "DD", or "DTS", etc etc . With JRiver my amp displays "Multi IN" and the sound is not as good, or at least different. Is there any configuration possible with JRiver?

Tools>Options>Audio>DSP & Output Format is what I believe you are looking for.

Under Output Format you can select "None" under Output Encoding.

Play around a little with the settings here if something doesn't work as you want.

Thanks for your help. But another guy on another thread replied and I find my solution.

It was in Tools>option>audio>Bitstream put "HDMI", and as you say, in studio DSP put none in "encoded output".

Anyway thanks a lot for your tip.  :)
