Lock Columns in List View
« on: June 14, 2023, 08:46:50 am »

Hello.

Can someone please tell me how to "lock" the columns diusplayed in the List view? I don't mean the sizing of the columns, but rather the selection of columns displayed.

I'm not interested in the Rating column, but do want to see the Composer column. Not long after removing the former and adding the latter by right-clicking the column titles, Media Center will invariably reset this custom selection of columns when switching between tabs or between restarts of the application. This is quite annoying. Surely there is a way to accomplish this, but I checked the online docs and perused the Tool-> Options dialog, but could not find a setting for this.

Many thanks in advance.

You can define and save a multitude of column combinations.  After you have the column set you want, right-click any column header, choose presets, then save, then enter a useful name for your new column set.

If you know all the above already, but you are on a server/client set-up, read the thread from the link below.  Where you define your column view presets matters:

Thanks for your reply!

That's useful to know. However, will my new custom Preset stay the default view? The initial problem was my custom (non-preset) column configuration reverting to the original default set at random times that I could never predict.

I see there is a preset called "Standard". Would my goal be achieved if I saved my custom column configuration as "Standard"?

Thank you.

Not sure... I have been using MC for a very long time and have no idea what comes "Out of the box" anymore, as it were.  That said, make sure in the Options dialog you have the following setting: Startup/Startup Interface/Location/Last Location.
