JRiver Media Center 30 v96 has stopped functioning

This is an issue I have experienced many times in the more than ten years since I began using JRiver somewhere around v.16, namely that it played last night but will not today.  It is installed on a Windows 10 computer connected via HDMI to a Trinnov Altitude 16 surround processor, audio only. Media Center is set to source number of channels and configured with direct sound using "player." My music collection contains both two- and multi-channel recordings, and I do not want to have to change any settings in Media Center to switch between the two.

I can see the music playing on JRemote and the Windows app, but there is only the very, very faintest sound coming from the speakers.  I sometimes get weird messages in Media Center to the effect that it cannot play a given track because the sampling and bit rates will not work and suggesting I allow Media Center to change to different values, but the sampling and bit rates claims do not reflect the sampling and bit rate of the recording.  I have tried various settings, but the behavior does not change.  By the way, all other sources connected to the Trinnov work just fine, although no other is a Windows connection.

This is an old and too often recurring problem I would like to leave behind once and for all.  I need help, but please, I am not fluent in techno-speak.

I did not put "Mac" into the heading of the previous post.  Why it appears there I have no idea.  I am strictly a Windows user.

JimH:
You posted on a Mac board.  I'll move it to the Windows board.

JimH:
Your problem probably has to do with the HDMI connection getting dropped.  Power cycling the receiver may help.  Try a Google search to learn more.  There are devices you can purchase to help.

Thanks for the response, but I have booted and re-booted numerous times.
