Search: any way to limit by specific field value

Looked for through the Wiki and forum posts for awhile, but can't crack this one...

~limit -1,4,[Artist] will limit results to 4 items per artist and [Artist]=[Heart] will limit results to Heart tracks, but what if I want to limit to 4 items from that specific artist?

~limit -1,4,[Artist]=[Heart] doesn't limit the results at all

Is there a correct query form that would actually limit a specific value of a field?
