Long Time User with Basic Question
bungelow_ed:
Hi,
I've been a Media Center user since before 15, however I learned by just twisting the knobs and seeing what happened. There are big holes in my understanding of Media Center due this approach. One issue that I have yet to figure out, and which is driving me crazy, is how Media Center decides what goes in which folder.
For instance I ripped an album today that is 3 LP's; the original release, an LP of outtakes and a live concert. For some reason Media Center wants to combined the original and outtakes into one folder. My strong preference is to have them in separate folders.
Can anyone point me to the right forum thread or documentation that covers this topic?
Thanks

Thanks!
As you can see I created a new Folder Rule, [Artist]\[Album]\[Name]\, which worked with Dixie Chicken. It does not work with Sailin' Shoes, even though the file and folder naming conventions used are the same.
bob:
Can you elaborate on that?
Where DOES it put that one that doesn't work?
If you look at it in the tag editor what do you see under artist, album and album artist? Is it a compilation?

The one that doesn't work, Hotcakes, Outtakes and Rarities are added to the Original Release folder. I don't know how to access the tag editor, or if it's something I'm using which I recognize under a different name. If you need the contents of the tag editor and you tell me how to access it?
Attached is a screen grab of the which shows the Dixie Chicken album; three items: Hotcakes..., Live album and original album. Sailin' Shoes using the same folder rule is just two items; original album and Hotcakes combined and the Live LP.
