Date imported oddities

(1/2) > >>

paulrr01:
I use my MC 'system' for curating tags etc and for casual PC listening - this has been stable for years and working fine.
I use the 'Recent Albums' view to confirm albums are imported and that all looks ok. Works fine for how I use things.
However, something odd has happened - it looks like a lot (200+ albums) of my library has had a date imported set to 20/08/2023 @ 23:22.
I have imported some albums since then and have a backup from 20/08/2023 @13:28 (i.e. approx 10 hours earlier). Those that I recognise as having imported since have a correct import date - this is only about 6 albums.

Does the following process seem like it may get me back to my normal situation?
1, take a backup as of now and make no changes to MC as an insurance
2, restore backup from 20/08/2023 @13:28
3, run 'auto import'

I'm hoping that the auto import will pick up any albums NOT in the restored db and re-import them (i.e. genuine 'new' albums will be imported now).

I'm also guessing I may never find out what has happened - I do know for sure I didn't import 200+ albums. :)
Many thanks
Paul

JimH:
Are they on a removable drive?

paulrr01:
No Jim, on a Synology NAS. No changes on there, no new disks, no updates etc.

JimH:
Search for "Fix Broken Links" in Settings and change it.

paulrr01:
No problem with links or locations.
Problem is as described originally - 200+ albums have a 'new' date imported.
Question I have is again in the original post -  i.e.

"Does the following process seem like it may get me back to my normal situation?
1, take a backup as of now and make no changes to MC as an insurance
2, restore backup from 20/08/2023 @13:28
