Upgrade v25 to V31 MAC, with Library on Synology NAS
emonnink:
I've bought an Upgrade to V31 MAC, and try to open my music library that is on a Synology NAS. V25 still runs fine, V31 while connecting reports " There was a problem retreiving files from the selected DLNA server"
It connects but no files (music) is available
JimH:
Just import the files directly in MC, without using DLNA. See the wiki for more.
blgentry:
You can import a library backup from MC25 to MC31. This will eliminate the need to do an import. MC31 will then use the references (to each of your music files) from MC25. MC makes backups automatically. You should find them in: <your user directory>/Documents/JRiver . Go take a look and see if you can find a few backups. They will be ZIP files.
When you find them, you can then go to MC31 and do File > Library > Restore Library . Choose one of the backups and MC31 will use it. From there you should see everything you saw in MC25.
Best of luck.
Brian.

I am assuming that music library refers to the actual media files. I have mine on a Synology, too, and I mount the "music" folder on my iMac via SMB3. It works very well. I have played with this set-up extensively and if I can be of further help, please let me know.

Thanks for the input. I will try to spend some time on it this weekend again, and I'm sure I might need some help.
