Play Blu-ray discs using Menus - Linux JRiver 32

Hi,

Moving over to Linux after many years JRiver on Windows.

I'm in the trial period of JRiver 32, below is about bluray import.

   1) Is there a 'Play Blu-ray discs using Menus' option like in windows?... meaning when the movie icon is selected it loads to the bluray menu, instead of playing the movie straight away.

   2) I have set the auto import to my movie folders, though when i click the movie it always says 'Something went wrong with playback' and doesn't start at all.
       If i go to the stream folder of the 4k rip and open the main movie file from there it plays in jriver perfectly, though not when I click the bluray movie that was imported
       into jriver (The entire bluray movie ripped with MakeMKV).
       This may have something to do with what I wrote in # 1).

I tried a few different video and audio settings so I don't think that is the problem.

I'm not the expert but I believe Blu-ray disk playback does not function in Linux version due to codecs not available. Thats why I was trying to get a list of diffferences in this post - to know where we stand and for what reason ..https://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php/topic,137995.0.html

Correct, you can't playback DVD/BD discs in MC for Linux. Nor can you playback DVD/BD ISOs (or any sort of disc image) or DVD/BD folder structures in MC for Linux. And it's not because of codecs per-say, but because playback relies on Windows system components.

The workaround is to use MakeMKV and rip the DVD/BD discs or disc images or folder structures into MKV files. Of course, this means no menus or anything like that.

Thanks for the info, I didn't think there would have been any differences though there obviously are.

Hi,
I used MakeMKV to rip the entire disks in full quality .M2TS files ..
I don't need to rip/convert them to MKV files as It looks like the original ripped disk .M2TS files play perfectly in JRiver.. the main movie file without the menus.
It's a shame about Linux JRiver not being able to play the Bluray with the menus, it's the only process on my Linux system that isn't working the way I want.
