Serious error with set up
« on: February 09, 2003, 06:05:33 am »

I just bought Media center 9, but it doesn't work at all !
When I set up the sofware, a windows error apears regarding the c:\windows\system32\l3codeca.acm.

Even with this error I succeded to start mediacenter.
At the first step, when MC9 was scaning all my media, it made a connexion by itself to internet to download MP3 plugin. And at the end of the downloading, a serious error appeard, and the software shutted down.

What can I do ? I tried to set up the soft again, nothing changed.
Have I to replace l3codeca.acm ?

Please help me, I'm very desapointed to have paid for something which doesn't work !

Nota : I'm on windows XP and Media Jukebox 8 works very well.

Thanks

I think I remember this problem and i think it had something to do with you loaded a program that had a sample Mp3 encoder that required a payment (to register\license it) of i think $15

i could be wrong, but if you use that file name and do a search i think you will find the answer.

maybe someone else can help also

thats what it was here is some info, and it has nothing to do with MJ\MC

=====================================

Hey, I'd like to help. You probably know that l3codeca.acm is a MP3 compression driver from Fraunhofer. If you want the error message to disappear you can remove this file from your windows folder (keep it elsewhere for the time being) then reinstall MJ. If you have any problems with MP3 compression, you can always replace the driver with your original.

Yes, i have nero with mp3 plugins, i thik it is this the problem...
For now MJ mp3 encoder work indeed , so i left untouched for now <img src="http://www.musicex.com/mediajukebox/images/interact/Happy.gif" border="0" align="middle">
Thanks.

Johannes-

I believe the l3codeca.acm is an mp3 decoding module. Can you look in J:\Winnt\system32 and see if it's there? If so, try manually registering it (double click it and choose regsvr32.exe as the program to run on it; this is in the system32 directory). Then try installing Media Jukebox.

This one:
>OCX C:\WINDOWS\system32\l3codeca.acm

has been reported earlier here.  I think it was an artifact from an expired demo for something.  Removing the demo cured the problem.  You could do a search here to find the thread.

The error while packing disappeard by taking off the l3codeca.acm.
But, I doesn't still work !
It succeded to go over the step 1 (scaning of the disk).
But when I try to play a song, everytime MP9 said :

"Media jukebox encountered errors while trying to play the last several files
Please make sure that the path in the Media Jukebox libray points to the right location".

It happens for every MP3.  I checked the location of file, no issue with that.

Thanks

did you reinstall after removing that plugin? do that if you havent.

Otherwise, it could be that MC9 is trying to play the files with that particular plugin. have a look at your plug-in manager under Input to see if its there, and if it is, uninstall it.

If that still doesnt work, try and find another mp3 plugin (not an encoder plugin, mind you) and try and install that. However, in my past experience (it might be completely different now, i havent been able to try out the new builds of MC9 for a while now) MC9 isnt too flexible with using your own plugins compared to the ole' MJ8

I guess he did not read what I posted for him

Remove the program that installed that file first, then reinstall MJ
