"Edit Smartlist" window immediately appears when opening MC and "freezes" app

I please need help. When I open Media Center 31, an "Edit Smartlist" window immediately pops up and "freezes" the entire app.  The ONLY way I can then close Media Center is to go to Task Manager and hit "End Task."  I have tried a number of fixes (i.e., did delete and reinstalls several times, went to the Registry and deleted all Media Center entries, and most amazing did a COMPLETE reinstall of Windows 11 saving none of my previous apps/data/etc.,and STILL have the same problem. 
I have searched this Forum but found no references to others having such an issue. I am a longtime MC fan. But if I can't find a fix, then I'll need to find a new music/media app which works as it should.

That sounds like you might have a Smartlist icon on your desktop.

Try escape or alt tab.

Does it happen with a fresh install/library, or just after you restore your Library backup?
An F9 keypress does that. Check if you have a stuck key, or try another keyboard. Maybe you have a second Bluetooth keyboard stuck in a drawer with F9 pressed :)
