[Solved] RM&C tool window not popping up on GNOME 46

(1/2) > >>

BryanC:
I recently upgraded to GNOME 46 and it looks like I'm now missing the RM&C tool popup window. Standard view loses focus and I have to "Esc" to get it back. Settings windows opens fine.

gnome-shell is throwing this error:

--- Code: ---gnome-shell[2679]: JS ERROR: TypeError: app is null
                                               WindowAttentionSource@resource:///org/gnome/shell/ui/windowAttentionHandler.js:65:13
                                               _onWindowDemandsAttention@resource:///org/gnome/shell/ui/windowAttentionHandler.js:37:22
                                               @resource:///org/gnome/shell/ui/init.js:21:20

--- End code ---

Edit: The window was opening but only 1x1px, in case anyone else runs into this on newer GNOME versions.

mwillems:
What Distro are you running?  I'm not seeing this issue with Gnome 46 on Arch Linux (I'm on 46.2 of both gnome-shell and mutter if that's helpful).  Do you see it on any other windows?

Awesome Donkey:
Not seeing it either in Ubuntu 24.04 LTS.

BryanC:
I got it back, apparently the window had minimized to 1x1px on my second monitor so I did not see it! I'm using Fedora 40 and have experienced lots of strange window positioning issues in recent gnome updates (46.2).

Awesome Donkey:
Ahh, using Wayland? I would assume so since Fedora 40 went Wayland by default. MC's windows don't work too well when using a Wayland session versus a X11 session. It works for the most part (thanks to XWayland) but you'll encounter issues like this unfortunately. I see it all the time with dialogs like when making library backups and the dialog that pops up that the backup finished or the about dialog box.
