1960 [Movie]

(1/1)

JimH:
I watched a very unusual and entertaining movie on Netflix last night.

It's called "1960".  The filmmaker is Gabriele Salvatores.

It's about Italy, told from his point of view.

What's very special is that it's mostly documentary footage from the time, so it's totally authentic.  I was there on a Vespa in 1964 and it is just a vivid portrayal (in black and white) of the time and the people.

I watched a movie back in 1971, Called "Journey To The Far Side Of The Sun" at the now closed-down Othello Air Force Base.

The European Space Exploration Council sends two astronauts to explore a planet similar to the Earth but located on the opposite side of the sun.

the same producer made the UK show UFO, Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons, and Thunderbirds.

I bought the Blu-ray from Amazon the other day to re-watch it.

I remember seeing "Journey To The Far Side Of The Sun" on TV as a kid and it has always stuck with me.
I loved the idea, that we had not noticed this other planet before because it was always the other side of the Sun from us.
Then that it was a mirror of our earth.
