Chromecast Problem

(1/2) > >>

donlboy:
I cannot get MO 4 Media to work properly with Chromecast with Android TV. I have MO 4Media V 1.5.7 on an Android tablet and an Android phone. The Chromecast is on a Vizio TV. All are on the same WiFi network with a strong signal. First, the Chromecast sometimes does not recognize MO 4 Media at all when I select that as the Play To device. Other times it is recognized but all I get is "MO 4Media" on the screen and the media I am playing is nowhere to be seen. With music, sometimes the music plays but the cover art doesn't come up. If I re-start the song often the cover art will then show. Some songs will not play at all, although they play fine when playing to "This Device" (the tablet or phone). Images/pictures are very erratic. Sometimes the photos do not show up but often will if I go back to the Library tab and re-select the same photo or playlist. If I start a photo playlist and it does work OK it will often stop working after several pictures. The photos sometimes show up fine on the Chromecast but not on the tablet. Videos are much the same.
I realize this is a jumble of symptoms but the performance is so erratic that it is hard to make a precise list of problems. The functionality is great when it works.

Both the tablet and Chromecast have plenty of free memory. Casting to the Chromecast works fine directly from the tablet or phone or from the Chrome browser on my laptop. I have looked over the settings on both MO 4Media and Chromecast and see no likely settings I can change to fix this.

Has anyone else had this kind of almost unworkable experience?

?? 1.5.7 sounds like current iOS version, or else a very old Android version.  The latest Android version is 1.13.2.

It's unfortunate that Dancing Tree does not clearly state current version and release date in the Google Play Store.

Awesome Donkey:
Yeah, you're pretty out-of-date on the version there if you're running a version that says v1.5.7. Hopefully it's not an old Android tablet running an old version of Android that can't update to newer versions of the app.

Google displays it clearly at the bottom of the App details screen.

On this page:  https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=dancingtree.mo4media&hl=en_US
I now see at very bottom, after comments, "About this app" there is "Updated on May 18, 2024"
but I still don't see version number anywhere.

Just suggesting it would be helpful to have current version number together with the version release date explicitly.

Also, Google is inconsistent wrt where it places this information - for some apps it appears close to the top of page, where I would expect to find it.

BTW, thanks for this great app.
