DSD 512 (8X) won't play
bhahn:
I have a brand new Singxer SU-6 DDC and Denafrips Ares 12th-1 DAC that are both capable of DSD 512 (8X) playback. By bit-streaming I can successfully play DSD 64 (1x), 128 (2X) and 256(4X), in WASAPI (ASIO doesn't seem to work at all), but when I try to play DSD 512 (8X) I get an error message. See attached screenshot. I'm using a brand new audiophile computer with Windows 11 Professional.
Thanks for any help.

Awesome Donkey:
You have to use ASIO and native DSD instead of WASAPI and DoP to output DSD512. Every DAC I've seen lacks the PCM sample rate needed to support DSD512 over DoP (and even if it did there's a chance MC doesn't support it). For reference it'd have to support a PCM sample rate of 1411.2 kHz in order to support DSD512 over DoP.
Select the ASIO audio output, go into the device settings and make sure DSD bitstream in DoP format is not checked. Then make sure DSD bitstreaming is enabled (and DSP Studio > Output Format > Output Encoding is set to None).

I followed your instructions and now I/m getting the hissing sound on playback on all resolutions including 512.
Awesome Donkey:
Make sure internal volume and system volume are set to 100% otherwise this can happen. It's required for some DACs unfortunately, hopefully you have a volume control knob or something like that.
bhahn:
Internal & system volumes appear to be @ 100%. Still no dice. See attached screenshots.
I have no volume control knob on either my DDC or DAC. Only exterior volume control I have is on my pre-amp.
Thanks.
