Nodupe smartlist argument
« on: January 23, 2003, 04:40:33 am »

I'm sure someone's gonna tell me that MC already has this but just in case.

I'd can see a lot of use for a nodupe argument.  I have some songs that I have 18 copies of, not all the same and I want them available but sometimes I'd like to say:

comment="charted", name=nodupe

...on a playlist so I get "Won't Get Fooled Again" 1 time instead of 18.

Is there a way around this and if not am I the only one? :)

You're a bad influence... we're supposed to be fixing bugs.

But, next build it'll be there.  Example usage:

Find duplicates of Metallica songs (where name and year match): artist=metallica ~dup=[Name],[Year]

Don't show duplicate named songs: ~nodup=[Name]

Find all duplicates in my library (where name and artist match) and sort them in a helpful way: ~dup=[artist],[name] ~sort=[artist],[name]

Jeez its that easy to tempt y'all? :)

Now about adding the ability to install plugins from within Netscape as well as IE.   I get the idea that might not be so tempting.  LOL!

But seriously, you guys are WAY cool...even Matt.

Matt:

You've saved me hours.

Law of unintended consequences however - my wife has long list of household chores to fill the freed-up time.

Maybe you can fix that in the next build.

How about a plugin that makes it look like your up to something when really you're not? The - Justaminutehoney plugin. Keeps you going for hours.  ;)

Noticed in build 105 there is a new smartlist - possible duplicates. Is there a way to modify the way this looks at other tags?

I have a soundtrack 'O Brother, Where Art Thou?' that has three tracks named the same. More or less. Parenthesis' and note are added to discribe each track, with two being identically named. But different lengths.

Also, and this is what I'm more interested in, they have CRC values stored in the comment tag. With no value being the same. This would make the dup - nodup arguement a cinch if it could look at these tags.

Any thoughts?
