JRiver33 stops playing after 5 sec
JimH:
It's not a JRiver problem. It's a problem with the site settings. Read above carefully. mark gave you the steps you must take. I confirmed that they work as he described.
HTPC-Freak:
"Suggestion:
Save a MC backup.
Uninstall MC33 completely.
Connect computer to the internet and turn on Windows Defender.
Re-install MC33
Allow any access permissions that Defender might ask for during the install."
That was a good suggestion !
I did everything exactly as mentioned - windows defender running, Internet running - I downloaded the latest version on top of the forum - it appears to be V33.015
Then clicked through the installation process - without any problems....
But when I want to play any of the many different stored AAC streams, none of them plays without problems. The symptoms I have described which finally finishes sometimes with JRiver crash
I will now try to play the streams with other software....
Do you have any idea, where to search, if it is a windows 10 problem for example ?
JimH:
mark gave you the answer above and I confirmed it here:

It is a site settings problem, not a JRiver problem.
HTPC-Freak:
I am sorry to say, I have found more details of the problem and could verify what the problem is:
When I play something, I play it to the usual zone, which plays the speakers in the living room. But at the same time, I have linked a second zone to which the system audio is played directly. This system audio content is going to the recording studio...
So I have the possibility to make recordings of everything I hear through the linked 2nd zone.
When I drop the linked second zone and disable linking, so only play audio to the speakers in my living room, there is no problem. As soon as I configure again zone linking, the problem is back as described....
Are there any secrets, which I don't know when linking zones ?
I am using this feature for years.... I cannot remember how long. But for some reason since updating to JRiver 33 it doesn't work any more...
Could you please check, if this could be a general problem. I believe there might be not so many people using Zone linking in that manner (different sort of audio to different zones - one zone with internal audio other zone with system audio, so without any changes from computer software processing like level changes...)
Many thanks for feedback on this new information.
I could not make zone linking work so far...
HTPC-Freak:
Here is what I did to reproduce the problem with linking zones:
At first I reset the logging, so that I get a fresh logging file.
I then played AAC stream trough only the zone, which feeds my living room speakers (named Acourate Convolver)
It played without problems....
Stopped playback
Now I linked the second zone to the living room speaker zone (second zone named Audacity)
Then I started the same AAC stream, which played without problem before again - and the problem is back as described earlier:
After a short moment JRiver stopps playing and after a few seconds it fades in again - plays a short moment and then stops completly.
The logged zip file is attached.
So how to repair Linked zone playing ?
