Beware: Windows Update installed Nvidia driver even if it's not supposed to

(1/1)

tzr916:
Just had windows 10 update on two of my PC's install the latest Nvidia driver!

This caused a black screen on my TV's, making me reboot to figure out what had happened. This was regardless of using:
Advanced System Settings > Hardware > Device Installation Settings = NO

M$ sneaky

I don't think that setting applies to Windows Update.

You can disable driver updates with a Policy setting (unless you're on Win10 Home):

* Use the Windows key + R keyboard shortcut to open the Run command.
* Type gpedit.msc and click OK to open the Local Group Policy Editor.
* Browse the following path:
Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Windows Update
* On the right side, double-click the Do not include drivers with Windows Update policy.
* Select the Enabled option.
* Click Apply.
* Click OK.

Cool, I'll check that out. Thanks
