Hi - when I use R,M&C to add music files to a library, any 'extra' files (.txt, .jpg, .png, .nfo, etc) are sent to Unknown Album Artist (auto), instead of to the folder that the .flacs are sent to. How can I include these 'extra' files to the same directory as the music files?

Anybody? Or can't it be done easily using Rename, Move, and Copy?

RMCTool can't be used to import files, only move/rename files that were previously imported to the library. Can you elaborate on your process?

Hi zybex - I download to a 'Downloads' directory, then use RM&C to move the downloads I want to keep to a 'Music' folder. RM&C does exactly what I want with the .flacs (creates a folder with the Artist's name, a subfolder with the Album name, with the .flacs in the subfolder. But any .txt, .jpg, .png, etc files that accompanied the .flacs are sent to Unknown Album Artist (auto), instead of to the folder that the .flacs are sent to. Then I perform an Import.

If your 'extra' files are imported to library then the same RMC rules apply to them as to your imported flacs i.e. you need to have same kind of tag values to be able to move them to same locations AND these 'extras' need also to be selected when doing RMC just like the flacs.

If 'extras' are not imported then RMC option "move all non-imported files in folder with selected media files" moves also 'extras' with the imported flacs.

If nothing is imported (flacs or extras) then you need to have everything selected and MC deals every selected file according to RMC rules

  • There is a small mailbox here.

Check to see if your import settings have "Ignore files previously removed from library" set
uncheck that option and see if that gets things working

If you have a habit of using the same folder or file names for your import (before the move and copy) then I've gotten some unexpected behavior during the move and copy because Media Center thinks the files have been previously removed and is now ignoring them. So I keep the "Ignore files previously removed from library" unselected to avoid those situations.

Thanks guys, I've tried your suggestions. I think the most reliable way to achieve what I want is to simply copy the extra files from the 'Unknown Album Artist (Auto)' folder.
