Author Topic: Time discrepancy between "Date Created" in MC and the actual file time stamp  (Read 170 times)

I noticed something that I can't figure out and thought I'd ask here.  Still on MC32.

I am ripping files from Blu-ray discs of a television series and porting them over to MC whose files are on a local NAS.  To my knowledge, all of the hardware clocks in my system are set to the exact same time as sync'd to a local GPS receiver I've got on the system.  The time information contained in the "Date Created" field when I am looking at the files in the "Video -> Files view is not the same as the time stamp when the file was actually created when ripped.  For instance, a specific file was ripped with a date and time stamp of 1/13/2025 11:49 AM and the information in the "Date Created" field in MC is 1/13/2025 11:49 AM.  Any idea why there appears to be a 12-hour discrepancy between the two times?

Thanks in advance!

The times in your post appear identical to me.  I assume one or the other is PM?

Yes.  My mistake.  They are twelve hours apart.  Oddly, the ripped times are in PM, which is my actual East Coast USA time, and the converted and as imported times into MC are in AM.

The timestamp shown in Explorer is the Modified date which corresponds to the [Date Modified] field. The [Date Created] field is the Created date of the file which you can also see in Windows Explorer by opening the file Properties. They don't need to match - each time you modify a file in any way (for instance by importing it and updating the Tags in MC) the Modified date is updated, but the Created date remains unchanged.

If the difference is exactly 12h, it's likely that it's done on purpose or by a bug in the ripping software.

Sounds good to me.  Thanks for the info!  FYI, the software in made in China and the place it has been developed is 12 hours away as the hands of the clock flies.  The software reaches out to their database to obtain file info, etc.
