2k SDR and 4k HDR displays .. Using only 4k content: Where/how to best transcode

I recently added a 4K UHD display to my household (of 2K SDR displays) and moved to exclusively 4K content on my media server. Please point me to the JRiver user manual content I must digest to get the best results.
