Windows Scaling

(1/1)

stricko:
Hi there. I’m trying to understand some frankly wierd behaviour on my setup. I have a single HTPc with integrated Intel Iris(?) Graphics. From there it goes through a 4K 120hz splitter, and then to 2 receivers and then to 2 displays (one projector, one 55” tv), both 4K. I had the windows display scaling set to 200% to make stuff readable on the 4K displays, and everything was working fine. A little while back, probably at the time of doing a gpu driver update, things changed, and the windows scaling value changed when using one of the displays. If using the projector it would be 200% as originally set, but when using the tv it would change to 300%.

I understand that edid contains lots of data about the screen, and has read stuff somewhere about the scaling value changing based on the physical size of the screen, but I can’t find any details of how this is controlled etc. I also found that by setting a custom scaling value, it prevents scaling being changed by the edid, solving my original issue.

Anyone point me towards any further info on this.

There's a lot of information about EDID and EDID problems on AVSForum.

The most common way of using a projector and a TV with JRiver is probably Zones and ZoneSwitch.  On the wiki.

You might test without the splitter.  It could be part of the problem.

I had a look at zones a while back, but I don't think it matchs my setup. The projector and the TV are in different rooms, fed from a single rack with a single set of sources (cable TV, htpc, Blu-ray player etc. The projector room is 7.1, the TV room 5.1. I'll head on over to AVS to have a look at Edid
