Streamer Zone not showing
« on: March 06, 2025, 07:05:08 am »

Since updating To MC33 (33.0.71, 64bit, Win 11 Pro), zones that had been associated with local DLNA/UPnP devices (e.g., smart Tv, AVR, WiiM streamer,...), are now not showing up under 'Playing Now'. I read an older post here that implied "... DLNA needed to be enabled". However, DLNA had been already associated with the running MC server (as evidenced by my WiiM streamer finding and working fine with the server ... albeit much slower).

I don't remember adding any of these wifi devices as zones before (i.e., no need for adding my smart Tv), as if the previous MC installation simply found the devices and automatically added them as a zone. However, with MC33 it seems I have to find a way to add them.

I can fine no option to specifically enable DLNA". What I've tried thus far, is to disassociate (remove) previous DLNA with the server... reboot... and then to re-associate the "original format" DLNA definition with my server. I've since rebooted and still no DLNA zones are showing.

Please advise... Tia  :)

You need to enable Media Network to enable DLNA, but you have probably already done that.

I have found the same problem sporadically with recent builds. To fix it I close down MC, go into task manager and delete the Media Center 33 process and the Media Center Server. That brings the DLNA zones back. The problem only happens sporadically so I am not sure exactly what causes it. I have not reported it since I have a fix and I almost never shut down MC or Windows for that matter. Once working, it stays working.

Thanks for your response. Yes, I noticed enabling DLNA (supposedly) comes with configuring and starting the server, which only begs the question as to why it’s not working as before. That is, this is the 1st time I’ve needed to do this after updating MC. This is also the 1st time I’ve noticed the ability to configure a “dynamic” zone under ‘Playing Now’. Did this add additional functionality that required disabling automatically recognizing applicable devices on the LAN and adding them as zones?

I tried this to no avail. I even tried removing the server together with all automatic startups, and then reconfiguring the server, all separated by rebooting the computer. Devices on my LAN are still not showing up. I only need to add my WiiM streamer for connecting my bedroom headphone stack with the server. Like I implied before, the WiiM’s own player can see the MC server and play from it, but it is much slower than if when JRemote can see the WiiM’s zone…

I had problems with Wiim products also but my fix has made them visible. Not sure how to solve your problem.

And, yes, I push from MC to my Wiims rather than having the Wiims pull for MC whenever possible. MC is just a much better UI.

I didn’t realize that “pushing” the stream was available… but then, I imagine MC requires being able to detect it first. Although, I haven’t found any problems with JRemote’s interface for “pulling” my selections from my MC library…

I was referencing the Wiim specifically. I like to send to the Wiim for MC rather via DLNA than have the Wiim app pull from MC as a DLNA server.

Here's a recent checklist to work through:
https://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php/topic,140648.msg975519.html#msg975519

FYI I just installed the MC 33.0.71 update.  Initially it took a couple of minutes for MC to find my old Google Chromecast dongle renderer (DLNA via BubbleUPnP server).  Subsequently, after complete MC server/player restart, it was found in about 20 seconds.
