I'm using JRiver to listen mostly classical music.

I have for instance several complete Bach Cantatas from different interprets. I'm not easy at tagging. And it's a mess.

I'm using the windows browser to find what I want to listen. It's not optimal.
As for finding albums pictures, I rely on the internet, with really very mixed results.
Furthermore, I own quite a few rare albums. A bit of IA would perhaps help me ?

I'm migrating from a TACT digital preamp, to a PC based "preamp". I still don't fully understand the digital volume control. Is there as loss of data when listening at low volume ?

My system is a very high efficiently one, 4 ways horn loaded. Even with my low powered Kaneda amplifiers at full level, I'm at more than 115 dB.

Is the level control in JRiver lossless ?

Album Art (Covers).  Below is a free album art downloader that automatically searches the internet for album cover art.  You might want to try it.  I believe it requires very precise naming, e.g., "vol." is not going to find an album that has the word "volume" in it

Best practice is going to be to leave the volume of jriver and the pc at max and use your external equipment to controll the volume.

If you were to turn the volume down on jriver or the pc sound card, the turn the volume up on your external equipment. You have effectively decreased the signal to noise ratio. This depends on using the external equipment to turn it back up.

I use jriver at work on blutooth earbuds and use jriver's volume there. But that's for background non critical listening. At home over hdmi I have the volume maxed out and use my receivers volume.
