HLG also seems to work out of the box (note: I've not tested with any test patterns to see of the range is correct etc).  I also got audio on this.  This is from my FX6.

SDR (from the FX6) was also fine.

You get zero audio with that? Would be useful if you can use the withlogging version and share some of the log from when you play it

Nope - I got audio from the FX6 but not from the Laptop.  Did not really try to dig deeper as you said it was still under development.

The changes left to do concern channel mapping. If you get audio from one but not the other then there's probably some other bug I am not aware of & logs may tell me what is going on

Yes, this Alpha 10 build is much improved.

With regard to JRVR tone mapping, difficult for me to believe that it measured a frame to be over 5000 nits. It might be a glitch that occurred when I paused playback to get the screen shot.  The source is Apple TV 4K playing Apple TV+ series Murderbot.

Looks fantastic on my older model JVC 4K pixel shifting projector.

I configured my Apple TV to output 7.1 PCM instead of MAT 2.0 Atmos.

I get broken, static noise, audio from the JRiver PC.

Audio seems to be distributed to Front Left and Right speakers, as well as Rear Surrounds, and Subwoofer. But mostly unintelligible.   No audio, just static, from center channel or from side surrounds. Audio path:

Apple TV > HDfury VRROOM > Decklink Mini 4K Recorder > JRiver/JRVR > Nvidia RTX2080Ti > Denon AVR

Trace log attached.

Note that with the Magewell internal capture card (11153), I appear to get perfect 7.1 audio.  AVR reports 7.1 Multichannel input.

I get no sound from rear surrounds, but I believe that is just Apple being Apple, where they encode a 5.1 track to 7.1 with blank audio for the rears.  I would need to find a source that is sending true 7.1 PCM.

Magewell trace (working) attached.

Retested to check on the "no audio" thing.  It's my mistake, there is audio it's just the channel mapping issue already discussed of no center channel edit being mapped to LFE (and vice versa).

While I don't think this is a filter issue, one thing that does not work for me is trying to kick off a recording:
- Screen goes black
- MC exits back to the UI
- Recording is still happening till you "stop recording"
- Subsequent playback of the recoding fails as MC can not build a playback graph

In prior testing of Yaobing's version recording sort of worked).... as it  did not fail, but trying to write the uncompressed data fast enough caused frame skipping issues on some feeds (the raw stream is in the multi GB per min range).  Eventually, there may need to be an MC option to enable on the fly video encoding to make recording usable.

I haven't seen recording work on any capture card I have ever used. It needs work on MC side for sure.

Generally speaking the problem is that the blackmagic API is quite weak and inflexible, it supports a limited set for formats and provides v limited information on what is happening on the hdmi stream. For video, this is sufficient to get a picture out consistently. For audio, the API is extremely poor and provides zero information about what the underlying format is so you have to guess. If it doesn't work with a given source device then it is going to impossible to fix unless there is an obvious bug in the filter.

Short version, if audio is important, I recommend a magewell card.

The Audio works fine, it's just the Centre and LFE mapping are swapped.

FWIW - BDM devices are from the Video Production world, where each track of Audio is just some random input, there is no underlying format as such.  It is in post where you then map what is what.  That said, there is this option but I don't know how if impacts (if at all) the programmatic control.

pls try https://github.com/3ll3d00d/ezcapture/releases/tag/0.7.0-alpha.11 and see how the channel mapping is in this build (it should be built in <10mins)

I fixed the various values shown in the property page as well

the remaining issue I'm aware of is fixing the misaligned chroma for 1080p input but lmk if anything else is not functioning as expected

OK, I am getting audio now with no glitches.

But 5.1 input is feeding the Rear Surrounds instead of the Surrounds.

If I send original source audio to my AVR, surround track is sent to by Side Surrounds as it should.   But the filter is sending the surround track to the rear surrounds instead.  I believe that the rear surrounds are not to be used unless the audio is 7.1.

Do you have this option? https://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php/topic,141053.msg980524.html#msg980524

If so what is it set to?

As previously noted, blackmagic API does not provide information about the actual content so if this mapping varies between 6 and 8 channel, i don't see a way to fix it as both look like 8 channel input to the filter.

alpha.12 flips the surround pairs so people can try different formats and let me know which ones is best
