Anyone seen my Pi?
« on: April 18, 2025, 06:50:35 pm »

Have been running ver 32 since it was released with no issues. I moved houses and installed a new network.  New router, new wifi and everything upgraded to wifi7 10g.

In one setup i use a pi with an RME dac sending digital AES to my active (dutch 8c) speakers.  It was my favorite. But as soon as i setup my network and had things running, ver 32 could no longer see the pi (running volumio) as a dlna. It sees all the other dlna devices in my network as it did before the change in networks.  It was on the same pc before the move so the only change was the network equip.

I still have ver 30 installed.  I started it up (both by itself and when 32 was already open) and found it sees my pi just fine and plays perfectly. Now, i could just use ver 30 and be happy but something is not right. Its the same equipment its being run on, same firewall the only difference i could find was MC32 vs  30.

With all the MC wizards on this board was hoping someone could add some constructive places to look for what i could try to get 32 working as it was. I wont ever be able to upgrade again if i cant find a fix.  Ideas anyone?

TIA

Its the same machine .... same antivirus .... same everything except for (maybe) something i am not aware of that is different from MC.

They are open at the same time and subject to the same security as i have it setup that way for a reason.

Since there are no responses from JRiver i then have to assume there are no differences.

Antivirus.  What are you  using?

Different versions of MC are treated differently.

I have been doing anything and everything i can to see if i can identify what is causing this to occur.
While i havent figured out what it is i did discover that if i loaded an older library backup (from mc30) in any new version of MC, the pi shows up.
As soon as i reload with a more current backup (from mc32 backups) the pi will not show up in playing now.
I opened both programs (working mc30 and not working mc32) and looked at setup options to see if i can identify where a difference shows up. While i found a few after chaning them to be exactly the same, the pi is still not showing up in mc32 using existing library file. The locations, names etc have not changed from version to version.  Not exactly sure what the above discovery tells me but if if this info lets anyone narrow down where to look, please let me know. i would appreciate the help
Its clear the difference lies in the library file somewhere
TIA

Jim
I went ahead and turned off defender, opened mc32 to see if it had any affect .
It did not as the pi does not show up under playing now.
Is there a way to add something by force. I know the ip address (fixed) so it would be easy to point the software where to look
