Your first post was 4 hours before your "it's working now". The lady doth protest too much, methinks.
A few years ago
my company the company I work for paid about 250.000€ (IIRC) for a NetApp SAN appliance + a couple PB of storage, plus I don't know how much for a support contract. We had an open support ticket about inconsistent folder timestamps (non-POSIX compliant) for
18 months - this was causing occasional data loss as different clients were seeing different timestamps and sometimes overwriting newer data. It was finally solved after a major NetApp OS upgrade.
Microsoft, Oracle, Apple, Autodesk, take your pick - it doesn't matter how much you pay. Often the larger the company the worse the service, unless you have the CEO's number on speed dial.
