34 loses connection to audio library
« on: May 11, 2025, 05:41:27 pm »

I go to the audio section and get the message that their are no file in the library. I have set it up 4 times and each time I close the program and restart it forgets how to access the files. The files are on a mapped drive that connects to my Linux server that acts as a NAS. Windows explorer shows the files correctly. I have rather a lot of audio files so it a pain to have to reload them every time. When I double click as the screen tells me I see the map to the directory g:/music but it will not connect. As far as I can remember I did not have this issue in 33 or any other of the previous versions I have had.

Check Windows Defender Firewall's settings making sure Inbound and Outbound connections for Media Center 34 are allowed.

Windows Defender already has permissions for the local network for jriver 34. It have worked with the last 3 version of jriver. It's only 34 that has had this issue.

For each major version of Media Center you'd have to redo both the Defender firewall rules and Defender antivirus exclusions, that's why I mentioned it because existing firewall rules and exclusions don't carry over from old versions to new versions.

You'd probably have to enable logging and reproduce the issue then look at the log to see what it says.

To avoid losing your library (Database) when network access is lost, you need to set the "fix broken links" option in AutoImport to either "no" or "protect files on missing drives".

Also, MC does backups of the database so you may get everything back just be restoring a previous backup. You can also make a new backup once everything is imported again (File->Library->Backup).

As to why you're losing network access, it may be because of the Win11 24H2 update:
