DSP Studio Help
« on: May 22, 2025, 09:26:12 pm »

I hope I'm just being stupid and someone can point out an obvious solution. I am trying to run stereo source files through MC>Onkyo AV receiver to 7.1 channels. I have been trying to use the DSP Studio and setting Channels to 7.1 (then > Done), but nothing changes. If I set Output Encoding to Dolby Digital, the sound plays through 5.1 speakers, although the DSP panel shows it as playing 3.1; nevertheless, I'm hoping to use all 7.1 channels.

Here are the specs:
MC 34 on Windows 11
HDMI to Onkyo TX-NR676 with 7.1 speakers, set to Direct Output

I tested with my Denon receiver and it works. Here's my config, maybe this will help.

Under Options --> Audio

Device: DENON-AVR (NVIDIA High Definition Audio) [WASAPI]
Bitstreaming: None (Recommended)

Under DSP Studio --> Output Format
Channels: 7.1
Extra Channels: None
JRSS Mixing (Detect stereo sources in surround checked)

No luck. I have my audio set to Direct Sound. Changing it to (NVIDIA High Definition Audio) [WASAPI] made no difference.

Under DSP Studio --> Output Format, I set
Channels: 7.1
Extra Channels: None

The JRSS Mixing and Detect stereo sources are both greyed out.

I am leaving Output Encoding set to None.

It's as if MC is not saving my selections when I hit Done.

If JRSS mixing is grayed out you might have stumbled over a bug I found and fixed today. Because of the new Dolby format we added, something was getting confused.

I think that was in build 25 so you might be able to install an older build until we get the fix out.

Thanks.
