Hello everyone,

"Thumbnails in library backups" is set to 'Yes'. When I perform a manual backup via "Back Up Library..." I get a 15-20 MB sized backup. The automatic backups however, go up to 200 MB each.

I attach the contents of the Thumbnails folder from both backups, but I don't really know why this discrepancy occurs and which backup is the "correct" one. I'd assume the larger one?

I do remember at some point in the past getting asked about whether I want thumbnails in the backup or not, but no such question currently appears in the manual backup. I did "Reset all confirmation messages" but nothing changed. Thanks.

Thumbnails changed in MC34, allowing higher quality thumbnails. As such if you save thumbnails in backups the backups will increase in size. Also with MC34 you'll need to rebuild your thumbnail cache too.

In MC33 my library backup with thumbnails was around 430MB in size. With MC34 and the new higher quality thumbnails it's gone from 430MB to 2.4GB. So it's going to increase a bit, that's expected. This is with both manual and automatic backups with the thumbnail cache rebuilt, BTW. The sizes of both are exactly the same.

I'd say there's some problem with that manual backup, the sizes don't make sense. If someone else can reproduce, then there may be a bug.

On the automatic backup the sizes grow from small/medium/large/xlarge, as it should. But on that manual backup the sizes for medium/large/xlarge are all the same, as if the files are truncated.

There was a bug, and it's fixed now.   I don't think it's public though.  Soon.
