How to navigate to next track/file in File Props?
« on: January 19, 2003, 03:57:21 am »

Has anybody figured out how to navigate to the next track in File Properties (when doing tag updating, for example) without having to grab the mouse and click on the next track (in your Content view list)?

I mean in MJ 8.0 you could simple press [Page Up] or [Page Down] and MJ would select the previous or next track for you...which made it easy when having to update each track individually (say to manually fix each track's name field, for example).

So, has anybody found a key combination that does the same in MC 9.0?  Or, Matt if you are 'listening'...can you please add a few shortcut keys to help?

Seems To Work and moves the select bar up and down in the file list

if thats what you mean

But it seems to lose focus if you click on somthing in Properties. i guess thats not it.

Up and Down arrows are not it...if you are editing tags, Up and Down arrows just navigates the dropdown lists for each tag info field.  I want to be focused in properties and use the keyboard to navigate to the next track in the Content view list (the viewable playlist that is).

I don't think it's possible. v8 was nice because it would allow you to select the file you would want to edit. v9 is the same but all files are auto selected.

Now if windowed mode would put the files to be edited on the left, just like in v8, then that could do what you want.

Oh...btw, I use docked window mode (Track Info attached to the right half of MC's window).  The windowed mode is nutty cuz you can't make it 'stay on top' and, thus, makes you batty trying to select another file(s).

That's what I mean. Have the files selected to edit attached to the windowed mode.

This would solve the problem of just going through the whole list. It would go through the selected list. Just like in v8.

That's the one thing I miss from v8 when I start editing tags.

I still agree with you that there should be a way to move up and down the list. Page Up/Down doesn't seem to do anything now. Maybe they can use that to select the next track.
