Track Number issue
« on: December 29, 2002, 04:37:28 pm »

I am a new user to MC.  I picked up version 9 and will be buying shortly :)... Needed the iPod support.

Anyway my problem is that a lot of my files use the track format of 4/12.    Any of these files that I import has the track info stripped out.  Also if I manually change it in MC it changes, with no error but on a refresh it goes away.  Most apps I use support trackno/totaltracks format.    During renames with this info they drop the /totaltracks.

Is this a bug, or a missing feature?

I am running v9.0.88

Thanks,
Matthew

Never heard of that one. Sounds like it would be a handy feature.

I believe it might be a ID3Tag V2 feature...   I know ID3Man picks them up for me and saves them that way...

Makes it easy to determine what you have and what you need :)

Here is the info from the ID3v2 standards at www.ID3.org

TRK
The 'Track number/Position in set' frame is a numeric string containing the order number of the audio-file on its original recording. This may be extended with a "/" character and a numeric string containing the total numer of tracks/elements on the original recording. E.g. "4/9".

Combinations like "5/3" is of course not allowed. This goes for both "TRK" and "TPA" frames.

if this does not work in MJ\MC correctly then it is a bug

I reported this bug to Matt a couple of weeks ago:

Check out reply #19.

In an email from him today he said he was going to look at it.

Great... Would like this feature back, or at least to not clear the track :(
