format and type of custom ID3v2 tags?
« on: December 17, 2002, 11:27:05 am »

Since I'm an Album Artist fanboy, I will want to copy all my Artist tags to new custom tags named Album Artist. MC9 does this for me if there's already a v8 Album Artist tag (thanks Matt!). But in order to achieve my view scheme I need to do this for all files.

If someone could post a full description of the type of ID3 tag used for MC9 custom tags, that would be great :)

They are currently implemented as COMM frames.

Please refer to the following earlier topic for more details:

You will note that the possibility of implementing an extended subset of the standard ID3v2 tags is under consideration (or at least, it was).

Thanks for the reply and the pointer, mcphzgig. I'll just have to wait to see how things shake out.
