When in thumbnail mode the arrow keys don't work properly.  I can only move between the first 2 thumbnails left/right.  Up/down works fine.

I got 87 to work.  I took this from KingSparta's post in another thread and it worked fine... (I will add my comments to it as well)

Steps to Remove the Crash with 87:

1) Uninstall the old version and Reinstall 87 (I even cleaned out the install (removed) directory just in case)

2) Rename your cover art folder to anything else.

3) Open MC, go to Tool > Option File Naming and Locations and update your cover art path to the new folder.

All should be well now.  You may want to update your library as well but mine worked fine without it.

I am not sure that fixed it, since it now have the crash back.

i think it has somthing to do with playing now (maybe template)

it seems if you play from "Media Library" it's fine.

I agree with KingSparta now - I get the crash again.  But only about 40% of the time with the above changes.  The way i am running it is by plaing a play list then browsing to some images (digital camera pictures) and "show" 'ing them - seems to work for a while then will core dump.  Oh well.  I tried.

The first thing I did was uninstall, delete all MC directories and clean the registry.  The runtime error is not worth the effort to workaround, rename folders, etc.  I am sure they will fix it on Monday.

It definitely has to do with visualizations embedded in playing now.  Again, if you set display to play in a Window before playing media, it will not crash, but note that there will be no visualization playing in the Window regardless if you have it set to.

CRITICAL RUNTIME BUG

I can switch between the START and PLAYING NOW view.  But when I start playing, and I switch from START to PLAYING NOW, MC shows a critical run-time bug from Microsoft C++

Bugs:

1. When pasting tracks to the Playing Now list (probably any list), MC always pastes the tracks at the desired position and then jumps & highlights the currently playing track (moving the focus)...that's not nice.  It be much nicer if MC left the position on the track that was selected/focused prior to the paste.  Try pasting a track to play every other time in a list of, say, 20 tracks using just the keyboard...argh...silly MC keeps moving the selection after every paste (Ctrl-V).

2. When you highlight and delete tracks in a playlist, MC deletes the selected tracks and highlights the same number of tracks that slide up and replace those tracks deleted (in the displayed list)....very confusing and annoying.

Bugs

  • If you right click on the very end of the list of columns (provided your columns don't make the content view scroll to the left and you have a blank column at the end) to add a column, that column gets added at the very beginning instead of the very end.

  • Playing Now : Moving the column with the playing icon in it to another position takes the playing icon along with it.

Requests

  • I think the menu item for Toggle List Style should cascade, opening up all of the list styles. The toolbar button would work better if it opened a menu up as well like the Favorites button works. Maybe make the button one of those two-buttons-in-one like IE has, where if you just click it, it jumps through the different list styles, but if you click the little down arrow next to it, it opens up a menu where you can choose a specific view style.

  • It would be really nice if when you were dragging columns around in Content View, if it would scroll. It would make reordering columns a lot easier.

BUG:

Rearrange folders for a data burn causes instant crash. Hmmm, hang on a minute.

UPDATE: After two shutdowns it works? List sent to burner was from a smartlist based on -> Rating=1. Well, I don't know why it started to behave.  ?

Guys, the only way to get rid of the run time error is to close the visualizations. Period. After you set up to view "playlist only" in playing now, everything works fine again. So the problem is in the vis....Cool down boys 8)

BUG:

Strange behaviour when shuffle playing:

Start playing a shuffled playlist.
Click on "GO Start" in tree view
Press "STOP"
Press "PLAY"
You'll hear the first song in the playlist again, but all songs below it have been shuffled again.

Start playing a shuffled playlist.
Click on "Playing Now"
Press "STOP"
Press "PLAY"
Play will continue with the song you were just playing, and no re-shuffling will take place.

(also posted in the New MJ Burner thread)

OK, I've got 2 serious data CD problems with 9.0.87

Both of these problems have been reported by others but I can reproduce them at will.

  • Files have the ID3V1 tag of a different file written at the start of the file and their own ID3V1 tags are missing from the end.  Two consistent albums:
    Kinks: BBC Sessions 1964 - 1977
Warren Zevon: The Best of Warren Zevon

  • Some album directories are inaccessable.  From a command line I get "The system cannot find the path specified".  From the windows explorer, I get "This folder was moved or removed."   It appears that only the last artist get's it tracks written.  Of the following, only Poco/Legend had files in it.
    D:\Paul McCartney & Wings\Wingspan - Hits & History (Disc 1)
    D:\Paul McCartney & Wings\Wingspan - Hits & History (Disc 2)
    D:\Pearl Jam\Riot Act
D:\Pete Townshend\Pete Townshend Live_ A Benefit for Maryville Academy (Disc 1)
D:\Pete Townshend\Pete Townshend Live_ A Benefit for Maryville Academy (Disc 2)
    D:\Poco\Legend
If I burn only Paul McCartney, it works.  If I burn Paul McCartney and Pearl Jam, only Pearl Jam has files.

Another type of runtime error:

I connect to the Internet, insert an audio CD into the CD-ROM drive, and it kicks open MC (9.0.87). Music starts to play, then I get a Microsoft C++ Runtime Error Message box, which goes away when I click OK, but takes MC with it.

CD Playback Errors

Matt, when I play an audio CD on 9.0.87 I get a popping of "tccsk"ing sound. When I play back that same CD on Windows Media Player, it sounds fine. When I play back mp3 files I ripped using MC on MC, they sound fine.

I have this problem with the release before last of v8, but it went away when I updated to v9, but has now come back with this version.

System info same as previous post.

Let me know if you have any suggestions. Thanks.

In addition to all the UNC (Universal Naming Convention) bugs that another user posted, there is also a MAJOR bug using UNC when ripping CD's.

I'm trying to rip a CD to a UNC path and it crashes the entire program every single time.  As soon as I restart and enter a drive letter path instead, it works fine.

I hope this one can be fixed soon.
