TV Tuner Bug - MC 9.0.85
« on: December 03, 2002, 06:30:02 pm »

I've starting using the TV Tuner and, unfortunately, I'm reporting a pretty serious "bug".  The TV Tuner initially works fine.  However, usually when switching between full screen/internal or when changing off of TV Tuner, I get a hard crash.  No BSOD, no warning, just a box frozen colder than the North Pole.  It doesn't happen every time, but it eventually happens.

My system info is:
Media Jukebox PLUS 9.0.85 -- C:\Program Files\J River\Media Center\

Microsoft Windows XP  Workstation 5.1 Service Pack 1 (Build 2600)
AMD Athlon 1673 MHz MMX / Memory: Total - 523 MB, Free - 125 MB

Internet Explorer: 6.0.2800.1106 / ComCtl32.dll: 6.00.2800.1106 / Shlwapi.dll: 6.00.2800.1106
Shell32.dll: 6.00.2800.1106 / wnaspi32.dll: Internal ASPI Layer

Ripping /   Drive F:   Copy mode:ModeBurstBigBuffer   CD Type:Auto   Read speed:Max
 Drive G:   Copy mode:ModeBurstBigBuffer   CD Type:Auto   Read speed:Max
 Drive H:   Copy mode:ModeBurstBigBuffer   CD Type:Auto   Read speed:Max
Digital playback: Yes /  Use YADB: Yes /  Get cover art: No /  Calc replay gain: No /  Copy volume: 32767
Eject after ripping: No /  Play sound after ripping: No

Burning /  Drive F:  RW-241040   Addr: 2:0:0  Speed:24  MaxSpeed:24  Lib:2  GHS:1  Use MJ Engine:No
Test mode: No /  Eject after writing: Yes /  Direct decoding: Yes /  Two second gap: No /  Write CD-Text: No
Use playback settings: No /  Normalization: None

I'm using an ATI AIW 8500 DV with the latest supported drivers.  ATI's MMC works flawlessly.

Any ideas?

When you switch to full screen, make sure you choose Desktop Resolution, not any other resolution.

Well, that would be a little inconvenient, as my desktop runs at 1280 x 1024 and the most my ATI AIW 8500 DV can send to the TV is 1024 x 768.

I'll give it a try for a while (i.e lower my desktop to 1024x768) and see what happens.  Thanks for the tip.

Any idea why this would happen?

Thanks!
